Why isn't there any left left? Actually it's here, but it's metamorphosed and diffused throughout the nation. No longer are there any dedicated communists or socialists screaming one ideology. And that's a good thing. Even the right has accepted some leftist notions, except for those few hard-line reactionaries and fundamentalists who want to turn back the clock to a mythical time.

What would a real left wing look like?

Not communist, but based on current socialist theory.

Support for national healthcare and reasonable welfare.

Would reduce the political influence of business and make it conform to social needs.

Support public ownership of utility infrastructure and set universal standards.

Support rights of the individual body - individualism in social context.

End drug war.

Support rational gun control.

Strong environmentalism goals.
