The New Right was only the old right repackaged. These conservatives had little understanding of classical political principles, but were largely from traditional religious backgrounds, and those are the social principles they have espoused. They gained power in the wake of a failing liberalism and worn out leftism, but it was largely a reactionary opposition.

They are full of contradictions; just as many as the liberals, whom they revile. Neither can uphold the moral high ground.
